Rui Passos

Born in Porto in 1954. Degree in Architecture from the School of Architecture of the University of Lisbon. For several years worked in areas regarding services and commerce, designing and/or remodelling numerous buildings for this sector of activity.
In an integrated Design and Architecture project, developed the worldwide network of “Select” convenience stores for Shell International which were implemented in Oslo, Copenhagen, London, Bilbao, Vitória, Madrid and Lisbon.
Also for Shell, in association with the Architecture Firm Swanke, Hayden & Connell Int., developed the project design rules for the head offices of this company in Europe, having authored the rehabilitation and remodelling of the headquarters of this company in Av. Liberdade, Lisbon.
In 1995, in association and on the invitation of Architect Raúl Chorão Ramalho, constructs the new HQ complex of Funchal Social Security for the Madeira Regional Government.
In 1999 the firm Rui Passos, Arquitectura e Rehabilitação Urbana, Lda.
Presently, besides participating in the design of the Quinta do Bom Sucesso project and coordinating the Master Project, is building the new head office of the National Insurance Company of Angola in Luanda and an integrated tourism and hotel complex in Vale da Ribeira, Stª Cruz, Torres Vedras.

Design Plan for a Social Complex in Kaxicane (birthplace of Agostinho Neto), including a variety of social facilities (Cultural Centre, Primary School, Medical Centre, Public Sanitation and Baths, Police Station) and single-family housing, totalling a construction area of approximately 3000 m2, Kaxicane, Bengo – the overall project included the creation of basic infrastructures (water and electricity), road network, exterior improvements and sports grounds.
